Prof. Alfonso Lopez de la Osa Escribano

Director of the Center for US and Mexican Law at the University of Houston

Prof. Alfonso Lopez de la Osa Escribano is Director of the Center for US and Mexican Law at the University of Houston

He was Professor of Administrative Law at the University Complutense of Madrid in Spain for ten years, his research and teaching is focused on Comparative and International law aspects, Public law, European Union law, and legal integration processes between countries. Also, his research interests are focused on Disaster’s response and recovery management and legal issues (from environmental to public health aspects), Health Law, Public Health and Human rights. He got his Law Degree and Master in European Union Law by the University Complutense of Madrid. He has a Ph.D in Public Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, France, where he studied as well a Doctoral Diploma on Droit public comparé des Etats Européens (Public Comparative Law in European countries). His PhD thesis versed on a study of public liability legal systems affecting hospitals in France and Spain, Magna Cum Laudae (La convergence de la responsabilité hospitalière en France et en Espagne -Etude comparée). During his doctoral studies he worked for two years as a Parliamentary Assistant on Public Law matters to a Member of the European Parliament in Brussels (Belgium) and Strasbourg (France). .
